What is Canine Freestyle?

Canine freestyle is a musical performance choreographed to display
the dog and handlers talent, teamwork, creativity, joy and the bond
the team shares. This sport is not only "fun" for the dog it also
seems to channel itself into attention right up to the handlers
smiling face. Freestyle taps into the handlers imagination and
opens the door to a discovery and freedom for the both the dog and
handler to express and develop new skills within the team. The
foundation of the performance is traditional obedience exercises
used in combination with the dogs natural behaviours and movement
along with inventive moves that captivate audiences and give the
illusion of dance. The handler steps on the beat and the team
showcase an attitude that compliments the music selected to
match the teams "movement, style and personality". The team present
themselves as partners but the dog is always the *STAR*. Freestyle
is enjoyed by dogs of all ages and breeds.
